How do we share small acts of Mercy every day?
Often it seems that people think that faith, acts of Mercy and our own faith story has to be dramatic. But acts of Mercy happen every day in little ways. So, I’m going to start recording these while I am on pilgrimage.
Acts of Mercy today
A fellow pilgrim bringing me a cup so I could make a cup of tea.
Today we had our first catechesis with Cardinal Timothy Dolan. The gentle, Santa like figure from New York.
Location = a big top with people from all over the world, that speak English.
Today's theme was, now is the time for God’s mercy.
He told us that we are all Gold medallists in the area of procrastination. That when it comes to God’s message for us and our life with God we are always saying, ‘I'll think about this tomorrow’.
St Augustine said, we will always have God’s mercy, but we might not always have tomorrow.
Now is the time.
Cardinal Dolan told us about 9 days that changed the world in 1979 (not my birth funny enough). JPII came to Poland for a visit and the people respond by shouting ‘we want God ‘ and from there communism began to crumble in Poland.
With so many terrible things happening in the world it is great to be part of something so positive. The big top was filled with young people wanting to listen, learn and share their faith. It was energising and inspiring.
Then tonight we ventured into the Jewish quarter to see Fr Rob perform. Yes, there was bad dancing involved. The spirit of joy was palpable. The inevitable squishy tram ride and a bit of a walk got us home safe and sound but not without some more singing to ‘such a happy day’.
My feet are weary but my spiritual fuel tank is full.
There is so much good will here in Krakow and now Papa Francesco is here! We greet him officially tomorrow but some of our group saw him today, in the Pope mobile, as he moved around Krakow.
Well played Krakow. Here’s hoping the rain stays away tomorrow.
