the first leg
Location: somewhere between Doha and Rome.
Time: I don't know anymore!
A big part of going on a pilgrimage is letting go of your regular life and being open to what the pilgrimage my bring. I received a couple of early reminders about this as I made my way to the first flight. Firstly, buses replaced trains out of Warrnambool and I couldn't get to the station I wanted. Then, a pilgrim turned up to the airport considerably later than requested. As a teacher who lives by bells, my patience was tested (and I probably failed the test). However, my selfless friend came to the rescue and picked me up at another station and we made our flight ok, despite the delayed check in. Note to self, we are now on WYD timing and there are no bells to keep to and plans will change.
A big thanks to all those who helped me get to the plane and who have offered their support.
So we are now on our second leg and I'm drafting this on the plane. Everyone is looking forward to getting to Rome. It's an early start in the morning, but when it's for Mass in St Peter's even I don't mind.
